Library Resources

What can you do at the library? (NU Library)

Need research assistance? Students can visit the Reference Desk on the first floor of the library.  Would you like to make an appointment with a librarian in your major? Contact your library instructor HERE.

Need help getting what you need for your research? If we don’t have an item you need, we can almost always get it for you from another library using Interlibrary Loan). Remember to start your research early! If you need an article from a journal, magazine or newspaper we own, we will copy it and send it to you. Submit your requests for materials HERE.

Want to borrow books or DVDs? With your valid NU ID card, you may borrow and keep out up to 25 books and six recreational DVDs. The loan period for books is 56 days and seven days for DVDs. Items may be renewed one time either in person, by calling the Circulation Desk at 716-286-8020, or online using the "Login" feature of the Library Catalog.

Need to use a computer or print? Desktop computers are located throughout the Library. You may also borrow a laptop or bring your own and connect to the wireless campus network. You may use the computers in the Training Lab on the basement level when it is not being used for scheduled library instruction classes. Black & white and color printers, scanners, and photocopiers are available.

Note: Information Technology’s Student Help Desk is now located on the first floor of the Library.

Want to do research anytime 24/7 from your dorm, home or office? We provide remote access through the Web to most of our research databases. If you are connecting from off campus, you may log in using your NU username and password.

Need a study room? There are group study rooms throughout the Library. Technology varies in each room, but each has a table, chairs, and a TV you can use to watch DVDs or videos. Some rooms have local TV channels, a computer, and a projector. There is a silent study room and three individual study carrels on the first floor. We also have several comfortable booths on the second floor. You can reserve a study room using this link .

Need a study break? We have recreational books (fiction and non-fiction), graphic novels, magazines, DVDs, and board games (Monopoly, Scrabble, etc.) on the first floor
